The renowned Comandante® C40 presents itself as a robust and precise manual coffee grinder with the innovative Nitro Blade® burrs. The latest Mk4 generation enhances its performance through the use of smart materials, an upgraded burr suspension, and an indestructible polymer glass container for coffee beans. With reduced weight and improved durability, the Comandante® C40 Mk4 now offers a more efficient workflow and is particularly well-suited for mobile use.
Everyone here in the roastery owns one. Personally, I use it every morning to grind fresh beans for my brewed coffees.
The C40 Mk4 comes with two "Bean Jar" coffee containers: one made of brown glass and another of clear polymer glass. Both containers are flavor-neutral, food-safe, and easy to clean with hot water. Each container can hold up to 40 grams of coffee. Made in Germany, the Comandante® C40 Mk4 embodies quality and innovation in coffee grinding.
Patience pays off. Let the beans degas for 3–4 weeks before preparation.
Freshly roasted coffee releases a significant amount of CO₂ in the first few days. This gas can displace water during the brewing process and negatively affect the taste. Typical effects include:
- Sharp or excessively sour notes
- Gassy or hollow taste
- Inconsistent quality from cup to cup
By letting the beans rest – also known as "degassing" – the CO₂ can gradually escape. This stabilizes the aromas and allows the coffee to develop its full, balanced flavor profile.
