Uraga Raro is a washing station located at 2000 meters above sea level in the Guji Zone of southern Ethiopia. During Morgon's trip there in 2019, they traveled with SNAP Coffee Exporters, the owner and operator of Uraga Raro Station. You buy the ripe, freshly picked coffee cherries from around 430 producers, their neighboring farms and semi-forest areas. Ethiopia has long been known to be very fertile and rich in natural resources, and the area around Uraga is perhaps particularly fertile. The mineral-rich soil and climate provide growers with very productive trees, with an average of 3 kilograms of coffee cherries per tree with each harvest. Aside from the numbers, what really stood out for Morgon was its mouthfeel. It's beautifully structured and has a smooth, buttery feel that, along with the clean, fresh citrus notes, is almost reminiscent of a glass of light Chardonnay. Paired with delicate notes of Earl Gray tea, this coffee will shine as both a filter coffee and an espresso.
